[tweetmeme source=”ibethyap”] I find the DoM plot of this story interesting. Although I don’t agree to physical abuse. But the rich emotions make my heart twitch and the plot caught my attention. I had a different expectation in the book thinking  it was like Twilight. Even so, I did enjoy the book. I have to admit some parts are really boring but some parts are really good that it’s hard to let go of the book. Since I’m reading only on the way to work and at home, it’s a took a long time for me to finish the entire book.

The story revolves around paranormal invasion. The soul (alien in nature) needs a host for them to live in. The soul in the story was trapped to Melanie’s memories. A host that has strong grip on her past. Her love for Jared and Jamie (her brother) was so strong that she won’t give in to full invasion of the soul. The soul, despite not normal in nature started to adapt to human’s life, fell in love with Jared and loved Jamie as well.

I like the struggle within Jared where he was having a hard time accepting that Melanie is gone and is willing to kill the body where he believes the parasite is now residing. At the same time, seeing it’s Melanie’s body, he can’t really decide on what to do. I also like to struggle with Melanie getting jealous with her own body as the soul’s feelings for Jared is forming.

I admire the way the soul thinks. She was more humane than Melanie. Wanderer doesn’t only think of her own survival. In fact, she truly cares for everyone even if they don’t treat her good. She’s willing to sacrifice herself for the goodness of all. It must be pretty lonely to not really belong. No matter how you try, knowing they would never accept you completely surely hurts.

In the middle of the story, I started to like Ian, it must have been tough for him also falling in love with someone who has 2 personality. One who’s completely in love with Jared and the other one who also fallen in love of Jared because of Melanie’s memories. He’s over-protective and it feels nice to know that someone cares so much for you. And who’s willing to do everything for you. For you to feel safe and happy. I liked Ian more towards the end of the story. His love for Wanda is really amazing. He doesn’t want anything else but to make her happy. I’m super proud of him.

This story made me wonder if love is really strong enough to keep you to hold on? Strong enough to make you sacrifice everything for your love one? It’s such a powerful word and I would love to believe. I don’t think it’s overrated but it makes me think, is it only in books that these things happen?

This book made me feel that there’s still goodness in people/alien. Although a lot of people are really bad, there’s still the fewer lot worth fighting for and worth risking your life for. I really like the story line and the ending was perfect. I love Jared and Ian for 2 different reasons. They are both good guys, even super reliable. I’m not sure how part 2 and part 3 would be for The Host. Let’s wait and see if I’ll enjoy it as well.

[tweetmeme source=”ibethyap”] Recently, I’ve been asked about my thoughts on Edward. Well, I love him! He’s absolutely perfect. That’s the first thing that pops in my mind. But if I have to analyze why I love him so… then… let me count the ways.

  1. He’s sweet – He opens car door for Bella at a super fast speed. Not only is he sweet towards Bella but also towards Alice and Esme.
  2. He’s attentive – He has his eyes fixed on Bella, even if the waitress was flirting with him. He paid no attention.
  3. He’s romantic – His proposal was so romantic that no sane woman can say no to it. And he was willing to die knowing that Bella died.
  4. He’s the jealous type – He was jealous that Jacob can give Bella gifts, in turn, he gave her a gift as well.
  5. He has a big heart – Although it might hurt him like hell, he tolerates Bella’s flirting with Jacob
  6. He’s possessive – He tries to stop Bella from seeing Jacob because it might harm her.
  7. He’s generous – He provides Bella with everything she needs and not need. He just likes flourishing her with anything.
  8. He’s funny – I love his wits. I love it when he said he’s 17 for quite some time.
  9. He’s talented – He can read people’s minds
  10. He’s resourceful – He read people’s minds to find Bella in Twilight
  11. He’s scary – He can be super scary if he wants to
  12. He plays the piano – I’m a sucker for musicians and this trait increased my love for him
  13. He’s over-protective – He always think of what’s best for Bella and try to abide by it.
  14. He’s understanding – He always try to assess the situation and grant whatever Bella wishes even if it breaks his heart.
  15. He’s supportive – He’s always by Bella’s side extending any help needed.
  16. He’s handsome – Maybe he’ll fall in the ikemen category where you simply can’t take your eyes off him.
  17. He has values – Although it was so hard for him to resist the temptation of biting Bella, he did so because of his virtues.
  18. He has self control – He was also willing to ignore Bella because he believes it was for her own sake.
  19. He speaks his mind – Even if it’s not easy for guys to be open, Edward is not afraid to share his feelings, thoughts. I absolutely love him when he’s sharing what he thinks. It makes me understand him more.
  20. He’s super cool – I like his apathetic attitude towards what people think about him.

The reasons above are the top of my mind explanations why I’m head over heels towards Edward Cullen and why I absolutely hate Bella Swan for continuously hurting Edward. She’s only tolerable because Edward can’t survive without her. Nevertheless, I love Edward and I hate Bella.

I’m super happy that Robert Pattinson played Edward Cullen. He’s PERFECT for the role as he’s super hot. Love him. Made me love Edward more. Reading the book was fun but seeing Rob as Edward is heaven.

Because of him, I’m collecting the blue-ray version of the movie and buying the movie tie-in books. I also intend to buy book with movie cover as soon as the Breaking Dawn cover is out.

[tweetmeme source=”ibethyap”] I started reading this book because it’s a spin-off from the Twilight saga. Since this is the first vampire book that I’m reading. It’s a bit hard to digest the details. In fact, my knees weakened at the mention of blood drinking.

I have to agree to Stephenie Meyer, yes, I find the character of Bree interesting. It’s fun to read it in the perspective of a newborn, discovering things along the way and making you feel how they felt all through out. Of course, their scene is Eclipse is really short but it makes you wonder why newborns think the way they do.

I like Bree Tanner because of her pride. She didn’t stoop down to the level of other “stupid” vampire causing troubles. I also like the character of Diego even if he is the right-hand of Riley, he has his own way of thinking. Doing things the way he wants and not afraid to experiment on stuffs even if it’s life-threatening (you know what I mean).

This book is just like fan-fiction. A short story focusing on one of the minor characters in the story. I do hope to see more spin-off stories from Stephenie, like Carlisle or Jasper or Alice. Better yet, I like to read Twilight from Edward’s perspective. After all, he’s the one I like in the saga and not Bella.
