Archive for September, 2014

It’s been a while since my last visit to SM San Lazaro. And I was really eager to go to Books for Less after finding out that I missed the Warehouse Sale where all books were sold at 10 Php. Anyway, I’ll closely check next time.

For this round, I was able to save 250 Php because of their promo in Facebook. The good thing is… The promo is good until Oct 15.

So for my haul…IMG_0542.JPG

To summarize my experience, I think I went overboard with the hauling. No more book budget until the end of the year.

The number of exhibitors seemed to reduce from last year but because of the bigger scope of National Bookstore and Fully Booked… I wasn’t able to go through all the booths.

One of my tips for newbies in MIBF is to be sharp in looking for bargains. National Bookstore has a bargain pile. You have to dig through it to find really good stuff. If you see their staff putting in new books. Be on the lookout! Who knows… There might be really good books.

Research Research Research! It’s the key. I search through blogs to see what other people are buying. Instagram is a big help this year. I browsed through #mibf #mibf2014 posts.

Prioritize what you want to go through. Me? Adarna House was my first stop! To look through their 35 Php story books pile. After going through their stacks. I look for their discounted story.

One technique is hold on to what you like even if you are unsure if you would buy it. Why? It might be the only copy and you might regret not holding on to it. You can always return it once you’ve decided not to buy.

Dedicate at least two days so you are not pressured to buy everything at once. You can park at the basement of SMX for dropping the books there when it gets too heavy. Or you make use of the package counter located outside the expo.

For this year the new booths I’ve went through are OMFLIT and Precious Pages. OMFLIT offers 30% off for their new titles and free ebook version of the same title. Some of the books are at 20% discount. Lampara books are at 30% discount if you join the booklat page.

So… For my haul… Enjoy!

Adarna House – bargain books pile : Sell at 35 Php for stories and 60 Php for board books. Regular storybooks are selling at 55 Php and 75 Php for board books.

Fully Booked – 20% off except for the Percy Jackson Series. Boo… they are selling at regular price of 289 PhpIMG_0436.JPG

For husband…IMG_0485.JPG

National Bookstore – it’s also at 20% off. It’s a good thing that they have combined with Anvil. Don’t forget to look through their bargain stash.

OMFLIT – I was looking forward to browse through their collection of 40 Php books. When I got there… the price is only 30 Php!!! Happy Mom!

Of course the highlight of OMFLIT for me… they had a book reading session last year.
