Even in Taiwan, I’m a fan of Eslite due to their 24-hour store. I remember that whenever I have last minute books to look for, I always go to Eslite. This time around I tried their online bookstore. I’m super impressed with the delivery of Eslite. I ordered my books on June 20 lunchtime and I now have it…June 25 at lunch time as well. Door to door delivery. Since Chinese books are really hard to find here. It certainly is a good find…
Initially, I was planning to get my books from Kingstone but the charge per book is much expensive. For Eslite, one book is 250 NTD. For Kingstone, it was 415 NTD. I tried putting all the books in Kingstone as well and they are charging 905 NTD as shipping fee. It was only 537 in Eslite. Hence, the cheaper choice. I was initially scared that they would not be door to door and I might be charged by customs. But all is good, the only thing I paid for is the one in the website.
Another thing that impressed me was the DHL tracking. It was super cool.
Tips for Online Book Hunting in Taiwan
1. Research first! Kingstone and Eslite are two of the biggest bookstores in Taiwan. Even if Eslite offers cheaper shipping, Kingstone offers cheaper books. So you must strike a balance between the two costs and choose the lesser one. Both would be Door to Door Service.
2. Google Images help. If you want to preview the book before buying. Copy paste the title of the book in Google Images and look through it. Some Taiwan online sites offer more preview than Eslite and Kingstone. If you can see some of the prices are cheaper as well. The bad news is they don’t ship internationally.
