Even in Taiwan, I’m a fan of Eslite due to their 24-hour store. I remember that whenever I have last minute books to look for, I always go to Eslite. This time around I tried their online bookstore. I’m super impressed with the delivery of Eslite. I ordered my books on June 20 lunchtime and I now have it…June 25 at lunch time as well. Door to door delivery. Since Chinese books are really hard to find here. It certainly is a good find…

Initially, I was planning to get my books from Kingstone but the charge per book is much expensive. For Eslite, one book is 250 NTD. For Kingstone, it was 415 NTD. I tried putting all the books in Kingstone as well and they are charging 905 NTD as shipping fee. It was only 537 in Eslite. Hence, the cheaper choice. I was initially scared that they would not be door to door and I might be charged by customs. But all is good, the only thing I paid for is the one in the website.

Another thing that impressed me was the DHL tracking. It was super cool.DHL2

Tips for Online Book Hunting in Taiwan

1. Research first! Kingstone and Eslite are two of the biggest bookstores in Taiwan. Even if Eslite offers cheaper shipping, Kingstone offers cheaper books. So you must strike a balance between the two costs and choose the lesser one. Both would be Door to Door Service.

2. Google Images help. If you want to preview the book before buying. Copy paste the title of the book in Google Images and look through it. Some Taiwan online sites offer more preview than Eslite and Kingstone. If you can see some of the prices are cheaper as well. The bad news is they don’t ship internationally.

So there you have it… Now my stash

Finally we were able to try this Korean Restaurant. This was recommended by my colleague because they have super affordable Samyupsal 299 PHP. And if you want to have beef, you just add 100 PHP. This is unlimited, mind you.

The place is kinda small but it’s cozy. The food, other than the BBQ is so-so. I love the fish fillet and the Japchae, the rest are okay. The service is okay but it was a bit crowded when we were there. So, it was a bit reasonable to follow-up for your order. What we did is as soon as they have delivered the meats, we would order another set. That way, when we are done cooking it, the next batch would arrive.

This is the first batch of meat, notice that the rectangle in shape are the Samyupsal and the ones curling are the beef. I like the beef more because it was easier to cook.

This is our last order… 2 sets of beef. It’s a beef party!

The verdict? I would definitely go back when I get the chance. And hopefully, this time round, it won’t be a rush lunch. But all things said, considering it was during lunch… I was super full.

PS: Apologies for the pictures, I was quite hungry when we got there. Didn’t had the chance to take good picture of the food. He he!4768 Kalayaan Avenue Corner Mariano Street, Poblacion Makati

I was inspired to look for Wooden Puzzle after I heard from Kalvin that one of the teacher’s comment in Edward’s toddler class is “he likes puzzles”. In fact, even if he was crying, he was still playing with it. With that in mind, I’ve headed to Toy Kingdom and Toys R Us in SM Makati and Glorietta. I was really disappointed not being able to find one.

Luckily, National Bookstore is just beside Toys R Us, I’ve decided to check it out before heading back home. Success! I was able to find it. I bought him 3 since it’s only 119-75-129.75 PHP. I’ll just get him more once I get the chance to drop by Anding’s.

My heart is heavy upon knowing that my ex-colleague passed away. I am never close to Alex, in fact, I only had a meeting with him twice during my P&G life. But I can’t hold back the tears as I read through the comments. It’s as if I lost a family, I guess… a P&G family. I know he’s a good person, well loved by his family and friends. May you rest in peace, Alex…
