I so wanted to go to the Brick Amazing Sale in SM Megatrade Hall 1 on Feb 2-5 but I wasn’t able to. I was frantically searching for pictures in the net to see what I have missed out.

Luckily, my sister in law went there and got pictures for me. So, it was like I was there as well. She said the place was huge! And the selection is really good. The Scooby-Doo sets were selling out fast. She wanted to get the Mystery Machine but it was already sold out when she arrived. However, there are some other goods she was able to get.

What sounded really nice were the Seasonal Lego Set like the Easter Egg Painting, Valentine and Thanksgiving. They are being sold for around 300 Php. (Photo Credits: Google)

So, here’s what you can see in the sale… have fun! This set is simple for Edward to finish in 1 sitting. I like the concept and the playability of the set. Some of the parts, I also intend to use for Swashbuckler.

There are 4 minifigures available, sadly, 2 of which are repeats from other fire sets. I like the Fire Chief minifigure. It has a walkie-talkie and megaphone. Cool! The wrench and the ax, we got tons from the rest of the fire sets as well. The vehicle looks cute, seems to be Fire Chief car as only 1 minifigure can ride.

image

The garbage can is bothersome as the lid won’t firmly fit, so we opted to hid it instead. The string in the gas station is all tangled up for now, I guess when we play with it more, it would look better.

Now, the extras…

This set is my new favorite. We got this on the one day sale of Toy Kingdom at 20% off then SM Advantage had an additional 10% off. Now that’s a bargain.

I like the set because of the boat, and it’s the first set we had that has a TV. Super cool and cute at the same time. Edward enjoyed playing with it as well.

You can put the boat on top of the van. The minifigures have life vests as well.
image

Or you can ride the boat with an oar. The set has 3 oars.

image

The back is opening where you can see the TV, bed, table and cup.
image

The top compartment is the storage area for the oars anf life vests.

The girl minifigure is now tired…

Super cool set.

Yup! We’ve braced the crowd to see for ourselves the 1st Lego Store in the Philippines. Since, this is my first Lego store, I have not much expectation. I’ve read in other blogs that the products are a bit pricey but there are lots of hard to find items. So, I’m banking on that.

I came around 1:30 PM, a little over the opening of the store at 1:00 PM. I thought that by now the crowd would be lesser. BUT I WAS WRONG! There’s still lots of people. It would have been okay if the line was moving fast but it was not! The strategy they have imposed is a customer comes out first before another goes in. The problem was, some of the customers are taking a long time before coming out.

If you get bored while waiting, you can go around and take pictures.

After 2 and a half hours, I was near the door. At this point, we noticed a flaw in the strategy. Some sneaky customers instructed their kids to go in first by telling the guard that their parents are inside. And after a while, the parent would follow to let them in saying their kids are inside. Please! Don’t follow the inconsiderate people. Other people are properly lining up and waiting for their turns.

I was surprised to see that the store is a bit small. It’s rectangular with people lining up in the center for payment. Because of the crowd, I wasn’t able to look at the Pick a Brick (679.75 Php for 100 grams, minimum) and Build a Mini (499.75 Php for 3).

It has more products than Toys R Us and Toy Kingdom, price is basically the same. I was hoping for a more extensive selection, but I wasn’t able to find the Airport Fire Truck as Edward requested. In the end, I’ve settled for other sets of Lego City.

Here are some of the displays to help you decide on what to buy.

Now, some of the exhibits. Some are pretty impressive.

And now… presenting our haul…
image

Simpsons Minifigure Series 2 is priced at 249.75 Php. Similar to other minifigures.
image

This is the 50 Php Spiderman Glider, to purchase this, it’s on a separate line inside. Beside the cashier. It was pre-packed at 5 pcs, the maximum number of items a customer can purchase.
image

image

This would be Edward’s birthday present from my sister.
image

image

image

I was aiming to buy this, and seeing it was a lucky find. It was hidden in the shelf below the keychains. If you can wait, this would be a freebie on May 14-15. I have no plans of returning this week.
image

This is a lucky find as well, I saw this in Lego Shop online and was hoping to see it in the store. Yay! Edward loved this. This costs 499.75 Php.

The Freebie

For the upcoming events…

For the Mini Build, the kids have 5 mins to build their set. They can bring it home. 10 kids per set. And 50 kids per hour.
image

Some points to ponder:
1. It would have worked better if they have issued numbers to customers, that way the cutting in lines would be eliminated.
2. If the receipt for the cashier is computerized it would be faster. Currently there are only 2 lines, one for cash and one for credit.

Overall, I’m happy with the experience, tiring but fulfilling.

This is the second Lego set we have built. And this set is fun to play with. Not to mention we got this set at a discounted price. It’s super worth it.

image

The satellite launcher set is composed of 4 parts plus 1 minifigure. Again, easy to built. Edward was able to put some of the pieces together. The three of us worked together to complete the set. An additional piece for our Christmas town.

image

My only concern is… The more we play with Lego, the more we want it. But it’s expensive. So I guess I really have to monitor Lego Warehouse Sale. How can I resist? It’s highly playable and not only in the building part, see… We can even launch a satellite. Super cool.

Super recommend this set to all Lego fans and Science fans as well.

Now, a photo of my son launching a satellite.

Finally, we started building our Christmas Town with Lego City 60000 set.

image

As expected, building the set was easy with the help of the booklet.

image

Upon unboxing the toy, here’s what we have… Booklet, stickers and the lego parts.

image

We’ve been trying out different brands lately. Our fingers didn’t get sore assembling the set. As we would have in other brands.

For the finale… Tada… I like how the helmet can be opened and how the Lego Figure can sit, I mean stand on the motorcycle.

image

image

Last of all, I like the idea of having spare parts. Good job Lego! We love this set. Simple yet entertaining.
