We had our prenuptial pictorial today courtesy of Ariel Javelosa. Meeting Choy made all my worries go away. Meeting him ascertain that we made the right choice to go with our instincts and choose Ariel Javelosa as our primary photographer to cover our wedding day.
A lot of the initial plan didn’t go as we have expected but at the end of the day. Everything went smoothly. Even the weather cooperated with us. Despite the tiredness, I certainly had a lot of fun.
It was a stressful morning for me. Initially, we were supposed to go to Makati Shangrila at 10 AM for the make-up with Joemar from The Art of Make Up Team. But I got a call from Joel Miguel a few minutes before we leave Manila because the Makati office was under renovation. The plan was changed to having the make up in Ariel Javelosa studio at 11 AM instead. According to Joel, they have an arrangement with Ariel Javelosa. When Kalvin picked me up, I wasn’t completely ready yet because they were earlier than expected. Hence, I was already panicking. We stopped over tiamli on the way to the pictorial and I thought we won’t make it on time. Luckily, we arrived at the studio by 10:55 AM only 5 minutes to spare.
Apparently, Joel was a bit late, he arrived at 11:30 AM, but immediately the work started. He and Malou were working on my face and hair at the same time. It was rather efficient :). My make up was complete by 12:55 PM. Only 5 minutes left for Kalvin’s preparation. I was super happy with the result of my make-up. I can’t thank Joel and Malou enough for making me look pretty and feel like a princess. I know he worked a lot on my eyes. Since, my eyebrows are a mess and I don’t have much eyelashes. I guess Joel can really work in a crunch time, as he was able to complete everything by 1 PM.
Next, we met Choy, our photographer, at 1 PM he was already starting to setup the place. He’s quiet but he’s really professional. I guess he really knows how to make things work. He’s in the industry for 11 years already. He’s all around, he knows how to take good photos, how to direct poses and he even helped us with Kalvin’s tie. I don’t know what to do without Choy. We had studio pictorial from 1:30 – 2:30 PM. I like the concept of having practice shots in the studio first. This way, you are able to chase away embarrassment. It was pretty awkward at first but since we’re just acting out what Choy was saying, the mindset totally changed. We completely trust Choy to capture good pictures. And let him had his way with us.
We traveled to Eco-park at 2:30 it was a bit traffic that we arrived in LaMesa Ecopark at 3:30 PM. We changed our outfit immediately and started with the pictorial. We chose the first outfit that we like most as the first set. Scared that if we would put it in the end, we won’t have enough time to take nice shots. I think this is the fun shot. I realized that I really change clothes fast. We ended our pictorial at 5:30 with 4 sets of clothes. I really had fun doing the poses. Because most of the time, I’m the one behind the camera. It’s rare to have someone take lots of our pictures.
The official photos are not yet out because the office was close when we got back. We just have to arrange the pictures to be used for the AVP so that the travel to the office is worthwhile. Despite not seeing the raw yet, I fully trust Choy and I’m super excited to see the outcome of the pictorial. I have a few shots from Katsu, our helpful assistant during the pictorial. Hopefully Choy would have lots of pictures. I learned how to me more comfortable with Kalvin through out this pictorial. And no matter what the pictures turned out to be, I’ll always treasure this moment I had with Kalvin.
